Apple Crumble

Three cheers for Fall!  It's a great time of the year.  So beautiful with the leaves turning the cooler temperatures and fantastic sunsets.  If you come over to our house anytime of the year and you will likely be served apple crumble for desert.  It is a stand-by in our family.  However, right now is apple season!  So this is the absolute best time of the year for apple crumble.

Apple Crumble

This is also a recipe in which I use a mix.  It uses Gluten Free Pantry's muffin and scone mix.  This is a very versatile mix.  It can be used for pancakes, scores of muffin variations, cornbread, crumbles/cobblers, and more.  Quick and Easy!  And as always gluten free, dairy free, soy free, and egg free. Yay!

Apple Crumble
preheat oven to 350 F

Apples
8 apples, peeled, cored, and cut into bite sized pieces
2 Tbl. arrowroot powder
2 tsp. cinnamon
1/2 tsp allspice
3 Tablespoon vinegar
1/2 cup sugar

Crumble
1/2 bag of Gluten Free Pantry Muffin and Scone Mix
3 Tbl oil
1/2 tsp allspice
enough water to make a biscuit like dough

Toss apples with the arrowroot, cinnamon, allspice, vinegar and sugar.  Place in a 9x13 baking dish.  Drop crumble on top one spoonful at a time.  Place in preheated oven and bake for 1 hour.  Check to make sure apples are soft at the end of one hour.  If not cook longer in 10-15 minute intervals until apples are soft and cooked down.

Serve with ice cream or non dairy frozen treat (we prefer So Delicious(tm) coconut milk ice cream).

Notes: We prefer Empire or HoneyCrisp apples for this desert.

Enjoy!
